Puneet Asthana is a recognized expert in ABAP development; he has 18 years of development experience, and has worked for SAP for over 12 years. Apart from ABAP development, he is also an expert in IDoc, ALE, EDI, workflow, SAP PI, SAP Fiori, SAP WorkManager, and mobility. He has worked on a number of projects as a technical lead and has worked as a technical architect on a number of SAP Retail implementation projects. He has extensive experience with integrating SAP and non-SAP systems and with leveraging SAP Integration Technologies (including SAP PI) to deliver innovative technical solutions. Puneet has participated in solution reviews, customer project issue escalations,and pre-sales activity and conducted workshops to help his colleagues. He also has good functional knowledge and has been involved in a broad range of SAP solution implementations, including SAP SRM, IS-Mills, IS-Retail, SAP AFS, SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP PI, SAP Gateway, SAP Fiori, SAP Work Manager, and SAP Mobility.
David Haslam is a recognized expert in ABAP development, having worked for SAP for over 20 years. David has led or participated in more than seven full lifecycle implementations of SAP, which include several multiple-phase projects and four large development projects. I will re-review after getting through the book completely, but initial review of the book is I am very pleased. The Structure of this book section, and Part 1 "General Introduction" cover how the book is laid out, and the basics you could learn from the official certification page, (difference between an associate and professional cert). The Strategic Understanding and Exam strategies sections weren't break through techniques, but good information for someone who hasn't studied for an IT cert before, or has been out of school for a while. I'm only a chapter into the bulk of the book, but am very please thus far- the information is broken up by topic, written clearly, and has graphic diagrams.
If you're familiar with SAP, and their learning material and courses, this book follows the same format. With that said, I've taken SAP courses, and own a few BW books, so I don't agree with the negative reviews. But then again, the technical content isn't overwhelming.
If you're new to programing, and SAP/ABAP specifically, it will be a more difficult read, and should probably be saved for after you learn alot of the base concepts and terms.

Perfect summary and highlights of the topics of the exam, i highly recommend it.
If you are a beginner you might not understand everything and you have to do additional research, but I think in this case you are not ready for the certification anyway.

This was absolutely essential in getting ready for the exam. The authors know the topics inside out. All preparation suggestions are 100% valid. I do not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who wants to pass this exam on the first try.
